Chae Hyun-Ju

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare the postnatal care satisfaction and educational needs for parenting of postpartum women using the postnatal care center according to parity. A total of 108 postpartum women (54 primiparas and 54 multiparas) at discharging postnatal care center participated in the study. Data was collected with the use of self-administered questionnaires from June to December, 2014. Collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 20.0 program with descriptive statistics, x2-test, t-test, and ANCOVA. Postnatal care satisfaction of postpartum women showed low level and multiparas showed lower level of overall postnatal care satisfaction compared to primiparas (F=4.09, p=.046). The highest educational needs for parenting was baby¡¯s health care (47.1%) in primiparas and sibling care (29.2%) in multiparas. The educational need of combination parenting and household was higher in multiparas than primiparas. These results indicate that postnatal care programs to increase satisfaction of postpartum women using postnatal care center are needed and should focus on the needs of multiparas as well as primiparas. Development of parenting programs according to parity and strategies to efficient management of those programs are needed and sibling care program for multiparas should be provided urgently. Education for practical subject like as combination parenting and household is also needed.
